Interpretation
Together the predictors explain 37.5% of the variance in Exam_Score (adjusted R² = .338), and the model is statistically significant. Significant unique predictors: Hours_Study, Anxiety, Group [Workshop]. Residual normality: Shapiro-Wilk p = .752.

What is multiple regression?
Multiple regression estimates the unique effect of several predictors on one continuous outcome. Text predictors are dummy coded automatically, and collinearity is checked with variance inflation factors.
When to use multiple regression
Use it to predict a continuous outcome from two or more predictors, or to test one predictor while controlling for others.
Assumptions
- Linear relationships.
- Independent, normally distributed residuals with constant variance.
- No severe multicollinearity (VIF below 5–10).
- About 10–20 cases per predictor.
How to use this tool
- Enter your data. Paste columns from Excel, Google Sheets or SPSS with variable names in the first row, or upload a CSV or Excel file. The example data shows the expected layout.
- Choose the variables. Select the outcome and predictors.
- Read the results. Results update automatically. Read the plain-English interpretation, then use Copy table to paste APA-style tables into Word and Copy for the results sentence.
How to report multiple regression in APA style
Report R², F and its p for the model, then B, SE, β and p for each predictor in a table.
Frequently asked questions
How many cases do I need for multiple regression?
A common rule is at least 10 to 20 cases per predictor; Green (1991) suggests N ≥ 50 + 8k for testing the overall model.
What VIF indicates multicollinearity?
VIF above 5 suggests problematic collinearity and above 10 indicates a serious problem.
How are categorical predictors handled?
A text variable with k categories becomes k − 1 dummy variables, using the first category in alphabetical order as the reference group.
